Venue and travel information
The POLYCHAR 20 conference will be held in Dubrovnik, a beautiful ancient town situated in the southern part of the Croatian Adriatic coast, and included in UNESCO's World Heritage List. Dubrovnik, surrounded by ramparts and fortresses, is a treasure-trove of architectural and cultural masterpieces, well preserved over the centuries.
Excursions in and around Dubrovnik will be organized during and after the conference.
Croatian currency is kuna (KN). Currently (as of November 2011) exchange rate is 7.5 KN for 1 EUR. Some exchange offices charge extra “provision” (handling fee) and some do not. Most major currencies are exchangeable, but euro is the most common – some vendors will accept euros directly, but with an unfavorable exchange rate (mostly 7 KN for 1 EUR).

GETTING TO DUBROVNIK
By plane
The Dubrovnik International Airport is well connected to many major cities of the world, either directly or by the international airports in Zagreb and Split.
Regular bus service by Atlas buses runs from the airport to the Central bus station in Gruž. Buses depart after each scheduled flight arrival, and the ticket costs 35 KN (or 5 EUR). The drive takes about 30 minutes. On the way buses stop at Pile (in front of Old town), from where you can take a local city bus (line 4) to the conference venue, Hotel Dubrovnik Palace.
Buses heading for the airport start from the Central bus station 90 minutes before scheduled Croatia Airlines or Austrian Airlines flight departures, and 120 minutes before scheduled departures of other airlines. They also make one stop near the Old town, next to the Cable Car station.
You can also take a taxi from the airport (costing approximately €40), or arrange the transport directly with the hotel.
